Cattiva Strada

[ITA] Nella periferia di Bari, Donato sopravvive a fatica mentre si prende cura della nonna, che lentamente svanisce per l’Alzheimer. La sua vita cambia improvvisamente quando si trova costretto a guidare un’auto in fuga durante una rapina compiuta da Agust, un ladro di origine albanese, che vive secondo il rigido e antico codice d’onore del Kanun. I due riescono a fuggire e Agust ricompensa Donato con una parte del bottino. Una soluzione, per lui, alle povertà e alla solitudine. Ne nasce un sodalizio che, rapina dopo rapina, lentamente si trasforma in un legame d’amicizia. Donato, grazie all’amico, conosce Erina, la sorella minore di Agust, entrando così in contatto con la sua famiglia in cui vige la regola della lealtà, il peso della tradizione e l’istinto di sopravvivenza. Per la prima volta sperimenta un senso arcaico di appartenenza che contrasta con il progressivo sgretolarsi della sua vita familiare. La criminalità e i rischi che Donato incontra aumentano giorno per giorno. Davanti a lui la scelta: spezzare la spirale di violenza e abbandonare la criminalità o abbracciarla fino in fondo e avere quella famiglia che ha sempre desiderato.

[ENG] On the outskirts of Bari, Donato barely survives while caring for his grandmother, who is slowly fading from Alzheimer’s disease. His life suddenly changes when he is forced to drive a getaway car during a robbery committed by Agust, a thief of Albanian origin who lives by the strict and ancient Kanun code of honor. The two manage to escape, and Agust rewards Donato with a share of the loot. For him, it represents a solution to poverty and loneliness. A partnership is born, which, robbery after robbery, slowly develops into a bond of friendship. Thanks to his friend, Donato meets Erina, Agust’s younger sister, thus coming into contact with her family, where loyalty, tradition, and the survival instinct reign supreme. For the first time, he experiences an archaic sense of belonging that contrasts with the progressive disintegration of his family life. The crime and risks Donato faces increase daily. He faced a choice: either break the cycle of violence and abandon crime, or embrace it fully and have the family he’d always wanted.
